MANILA, Philippines — The Filipina STAR has been nominated for this year’s TikTok Awards Philippines.

The TikTok Awards are intended to recognize creators, public figures and media publishers who have produced impactful TikTok entertainment and content over the past year at an awards ceremony at the New Frontier Theatre, the August 13.

Now in its second year, the TikTok Awards have introduced the special “Top Media Publisher Award” to honor the media publisher “who achieved the most views, engagements and additional subscribers for the period”. .

Launched in November 2021, STAR’s official TikTok account now has over 534,000 likes and 10.5 million views on the platform, with content ranging from news, exclusives, entertainment, among others.

STAR, the only print publisher to earn a nod for the category, is nominated alongside 24 Oras, Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho, One PH, When In Manila, News5 and DZRH News.

TikTok Philippines has also revealed its nominees for the fan-voted categories namely, Popular Creator of the Year, Celebrity of the Year, PPOP Group of the Year, Live Streamer of the Year, Live Broadcaster of the Year and Rising Live Star of the Year.

Fans still have the chance to vote for their favorites six times a day until tomorrow, August 12, through TikTok’s integrated Lyka Nicart site.

Meanwhile, the winners will be officially announced on August 20 with the broadcast of the TikTok Awards Philippines at 7 p.m. on the official TikTok, YouTube and Facebook accounts of TikTok Philippines. The online event, titled Panalo Ka Dito, Tara Na!, features entertaining and different content for loyal TikTok users and non-users alike to create and experience with the app. The awards show will also feature world-class performances from trending local celebrities and the Philippines’ biggest TikTok stars.

Fan-favorite musical artists include Darren Espanto, Zephanie, Ken San Jose, Awra Briguela, Adie, Jed Madela, Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara, as well as Pinoy pop boy and girl bands BGYO, BINI and MNL48. Brothers Rayver and Rodjun Cruz and sibling dance duo Niana and Natalia Guerrero will also give special performances during the event.
