Gold Hill California Media Inc. acquires Grass Valley Union

Gold Hill California Media Inc. has acquired Union of Grass Valley (California) and related titles from Ogden Newspapers. Ogden Newspapers had acquired the group as part of its acquisition of Swift Communications in late 2021.

The sale includes the 158-year-old Union daily, Foothill Weekly, the semi-monthly Wildwood Independent, the weekly Prospector, the annual Best of Nevada County magazine and the annual Nevada County Visitors Guide.

Dirks, Van Essen & April, through its subsidiary CAL DVM, represented Ogden Newspapers in connection with the transaction. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The new owners own newspaper assets in the United States and Canada, including several in California. These titles include the Marysville (California) Appeal-Democrat and the Lodi (California) News-Sentinel, as well as a group in the southern part of the state.
