With love…
Reading some of the reviews, you’d think I was one of a small circle of people enjoying Netflix show With Love, Meghan but I can’t believe that’s true… Okay, not all the recipes or ideas are for dummies, but I’m loving the tips and tricks aimed at those of us who are… well, domestically challenged when it comes to the kitchen. For those like me – with very little inclination to cook or entertain at home – her ideas are excellent. Freeze flowers in ice cubes? Nice. Crudités? Serve some popped pea pods (or green pearls, as she calls them) instead of just carrot batons, and decorate with daisies. Love it. One Pan Pasta – super simple and hardly any washing up. I’m pretty sure I won’t be paying £21 for her honey,…
START YOUR week with a smile
1 KATE’S COMFORT The Princess of Wales broke tradition with her Mother’s Day post last week – sharing a poignant video outdoors instead of a family portrait. The clip was accompanied by a statement from Catherine, 43. She wrote: ‘Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life. C.’ 2 Who wowed the crowd? Pastel pale suits are making a soft yet powerful statement this season, just take a look at these ladies! Presenter Fearne Cotton looked effortlessly chic in a pink co-ord, film icon Jane Fonda, 87, was a vision in neutral,…
Lisa’s ‘very dark time’
Chef, actress and national treasure Lisa Faulkner has said that undergoing three rounds of IVF and having a failed ectopic pregnancy, was ‘a very dark time’. The 53-year-old – who has been married to fellow chef John Torode since 2019 – previously revealed that, ‘something happened overnight’ which left her wanting a family ‘so badly’ and added that it was ‘so lonely’ when she wasn’t getting pregnant. Lisa spoke to Good Housekeeping and confessed: ‘Those years were a very dark time. One minute I wasn’t that bothered about kids, apart from my nieces, and then something happened overnight, and I wanted a baby so badly. All my peers were trying at the same time, so it was like we were swimming in the same pool, but they kept getting pregnant and climbing…
‘I’m going up against the most powerful couple’
She first spoke out in an interview with Kay Burley on Sky in 2004, and now over 20 years later, Rebecca Loos is speaking about her supposed affair with her former boss – football legend, David Beckham. Though the much-loved soccer star has always denied his former assistant’s claims, calling them ‘ludicrous,’ the now 47-year-old mum-of-two feels she has to defend herself once again. Following the 2023 Netflix documentary, Beckham, where David and his wife Victoria spoke about the ‘hardest period’ of their marriage, Rebecca is asking him to stop running from the ‘truth’. David said, ‘I don’t know how we got through it in all honesty. Victoria is everything to me. To see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters. We needed to fight for each other and for our family.…
The Spencers’ toxic twist
They spent more than a decade of marital bliss together, until unlucky number 13 struck last year and the marriage between Earl Spencer and Countess Karen Gordon was over. In June 2024, it was announced that Princess Diana’s younger brother and the Canadian – who he’d met on a blind date in 2010 – had separated in April 2024, and were planning to divorce. At the time, the 60-year-old (who has been married three times and has seven children) said, ‘It is immensely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future.’ Charles and Karen – a philanthropist – married in June 2011, just a year after meeting within the grounds of his family estate in Althorp, where…
‘I was convinced I’d get the sack from Corrie ’
Many will remember Amanda Barrie as the long-suffering wife of factory owner, Mike Baldwin, in Corrie. She starred as the lovable Alma for two decades, and ran the local café when the soap was at its peak, drawing in millions of viewers per episode. Sadly, she bid a fond farewell to the cobbles when her character died from cervical cancer in tear-jerking scenes in 2001. Prior to that, the former dancer appeared in two of the iconic Carry On films, and her life has been equally as colourful off-screen. She married the late actor Robin Hunter in the Sixties, but despite separating after 20 years of marriage, they never divorced, and in 2003, she revealed she was bisexual. Eventually she tied the knot with long-term partner Hilary Bonner, 11 years ago, and they divide…
