Was It Really That Long Ago? I first started working on staff at People in 2005—which does not feel like very long ago to me, but, um … it’s been 20 years. I think a lot of millennials (I’m technically an “older millennial”) in particular don’t realize how fast time has flown by, perhaps because of those weird pandemic years that didn’t quite feel real. So what we’re discovering here at People is that nostalgia as a topic is more popular than ever—and what nostalgia is to you depends entirely on your age bracket. For me, nostalgia is all about what was happening in the culture that first year I was working professionally here at People—The Office was on the air, Brangelina made their debut, and the Pussycat Dolls and Kelly…

USHER BELTS IT OUT On March 29 Usher kicked off his 10-night residency at London’s O2 Arena with an energetic two-hour concert that included more than 40 songs, multiple costume changes, impressive choreography and, in true Usher fashion, roller skates. Billed “Past, Present, Future,” the show replicates his 100-date Las Vegas run that ended in December 2023. The star called opening night “incredible” on Instagram. GLAAD TO SEE YOU Cynthia Erivo goofed around with Lil Nas X at the GLAAD Media Awards on March 27 in L.A., where she served as guest of honor and received the Stephen F. Kolzak award for her work toward ending homophobia. Prince Harry’s Sentebale Charity in Crisis
Prince Harry and his longtime friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho announced their “devastating” decision to resign as patrons of Sentebale on March 26. The Duke of Sussex cofounded the charity in 2006 in memory of his mother, Princess Diana, to support young people affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis in Lesotho and across southern Africa. “What’s transpired is unthinkable. We are in shock that we have to do this, but we have a continued responsibility to Sentebale’s beneficiaries, so we will be sharing all of our concerns with the Charity Commission as to how this came about,” they said in a joint statement. The resignations of both princes, along with Sentebale’s board of trustees, stem from a breakdown in relations with chairwoman Dr. Sophie Chandauka, who was appointed in July 2023. A…
Morgan Wallen’s Abrupt ‘SNL’ Exit Stirs Up Controversy
After performing on Saturday Night Live for the first time in nearly five years on March 29, Morgan Wallen made an early exit from the stage that had some viewers—and cast member Kenan Thompson—calling out what they viewed as rude behavior. Host Mikey Madison thanked everyone for a “wonderful show,” and Wallen whispered something in her ear before walking offstage ahead of the show’s cast and crew, breaking a long-standing tradition. Shortly after, he shared a photo of a private jet on his Instagram Stories along with the words “Get me to God’s country.” The following day a source close to the country star told Variety that he enjoyed his time on the show, and he didn’t mean to offend anyone with his exit or Instagram post. They also noted that…
Sydney Sweeney Ends Her Engagement to Jonathan Davino
Multiple sources confirm to People that Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, are no longer together. The news comes after reports surfaced that the Euphoria actress, 27, has been living in an L.A.-area hotel without Davino, 41, a film producer. “Things have been rocky for a long time,” says an insider. A source close to Sweeney adds that the star wasn’t “ready to settle down” with Davino, to whom she got engaged in 2022: “She’s in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of. This is what she wants to focus on right now.” Amid the news of the split, Sweeney was spotted in Dallas with her Anyone but You costar Glen Powell at the March 29 wedding of his sister Leslie, who is close to…
