RETURN TO THE OUTBACK AT LAST
In this edition, we get to show you what we did on the Camper Outback Pub Experiences adventure. For months this trip has been deferred, but finally, the travel gods smiled upon us, and we headed to outback NSW to check out some epic pubs with partners from Austrack, Wonderland, Bushtracker and Opus. We also had some gear from Ampfibian, Off-Grid Adventure Co, iSi Advanced Bicycle Carrier Systems, Enerdrive and Superior Performance Batteries to check out. Even though Mother Nature tried to stop us in our tracks, we quickly changed our itinerary and managed to still visit all the pubs we’d promised the team, while also capturing some fantastic content for them to use. We checked out the Mt Gipps Hotel just out of Broken Hill, the famous Silverton Hotel, the…
TORTURE TESTING THE TANAMI
It’s not often that when we review a camper we get to have it for more than a day, but the benefit of Austrack joining our Outback Pub Experience with their offroad hybrid, the Tanami X13, meant that I had plenty of time to have a good look at it. It also allowed me to see how an imported hybrid handled the conditions that 95 per cent of its owners will want to take it. We towed the Tanami X13 on a variety of road types, from bitumen to maintained gravel roads, desert sands and heavily corrugated tracks as well as crossing many cattle grids and navigating washed-out creek beds, and all were handled comfortably. We stayed in caravan parks, bush camped in national parks and set up beside the Darling…

BEHIND THE SCENES OUTBACK PUB EXPERIENCES
The planning had spilled into months, the event was delayed multiple times due to border closures and travel restrictions, but suddenly it was time. But even as the participants left their hometowns, Mother Nature decided to have a say with storm clouds brewing. New South Wales was on Armageddon alert by over-enthusiastic fear mongers, while, one by one, outback roads began to close as rain coated the region. Some regions had over 25mm dropped on them, a top-up from what they’d enjoyed only a week or so before. We were joined on our Outback Pub Experiences with representatives from Bushtracker with two caravans (Matt and Andy), Wonderland RV (Damien), Austrack (Nick and Sam) and our Creative Director, Tim, was towing our long-term Air OPUS OP4 camper. The legendary Cam Inniss was there…
SILOS, SHEARERS AND SHIRAZ
How do you plan your next adventure? Do you point the rig in a direction and simply let the thrill of the ride guide you? Perhaps you go back to the same location every year and hang the billy on the same nook as your grandad, or maybe you’ve got a bucket list of destinations like the Cape or the Kimberley. Many of us pick a theme to guide our travel itinerary such as ‘the Big Things’ or following an explorers’ footsteps. If you take this approach, there’s a lot on offer when you theme a trip around our pioneering past. Do so and you’ll uncover a tale of sweat and toil involving both Indigenous and European practices. Choose a theme like ‘silo art,’ ‘rural museums,’ or ‘food and wine,’ and…
