Kia ora!
If I hadn’t landed my dream job in mags, there’s a good chance I could’ve ended up in radio. As a kid, I always listened to the breakfast banter as I ploughed through my Weet-Bix, then as a teen, I’d spend long nights ringing up to request Spice Girls, Stellar*, Garbage or Catatonia hits, then slavishly record the results of the chart show in the hope of winning a CD. I was obsessed. When I studied radio at AUT, Marcus Lush was briefly my tutor. I remember him asking me who I listened to on air when I was younger. Tom’s Tears Over Val Kilmer
1959 – 2025 Maverick tragically lost his Iceman last week and we’re told Tom Cruise, 62, has been deeply affected by the passing of his Top Gun co-star Val Kilmer, who died of pneumonia at age 65 after a long battle with throat cancer. Known for his starring roles in movies such as Batman Forever, Heat, True Romance and Willow, it was the 1986 film Top Gun that propelled his career into the stratosphere and sparked a decades-long friendship with Tom. “Tom’s not taking Val’s death well,” an insider tells us. “Their on-screen competitiveness was real in that first movie as Tom was worried Val would steal his heartthrob mantle. They might have puffed about on that set, but Tom makes it a rule to leave a movie set on…
It’s A Dawson’s Creek Reunion!
More than two decades after Dawson’s Creek came to an end, fans may finally be getting the reunion they’ve longed for! While the cast has dismissed reboot rumours for years, Busy Philipps (left), 45, has revealed that she, Katie Holmes, 46, and Michelle Williams, 44, are planning something together in aid of co-star James Van Der Beek, 48, who announced he’s suffering from colorectal cancer in November. “It’s no secret there were enemies made back then, but James’ situation makes all that seem unimportant and everyone’s more than willing to set aside their differences to make this happen,” an insider tells Woman’s Day. “It’s almost unbelievable that the nicest guy on set would have this happen to him and everyone’s pulling together to make this reunion happen. A special episode…
Friends With Benefits!
She’s been single since her 1999 divorce from her bestie Peter Marc Jacobson, who later came out as gay, but Fran Drescher isn’t short of love in her life! “I have a little rotation,” the former star of The Nanny, 67, admits of her relationship status. “I mean, I’m Fran Drescher!” A longtime pal adds, “She’s fallen out with friends who are worried she’s still holding a torch for Peter and that he might be getting in the way of her committing to another man, but she’s clearly had the last laugh. “She and Peter have a great relationship and all her needs are being met – she couldn’t be happier.”…
