EDITOR’S LETTER
When actor Meghann Fahy auditioned for the first season of The White Lotus, she was rejected. It stung, of course, but rejection is a way of life for actors, no matter how famous. When the opportunity to try for the second season arose, her expectations were low. “I still thought there was no chance. When I got it, it was the most exciting piece of news imaginable. It still feels surreal to me,” she tells marie claire in our cover story on page 100. Like many things in life, if you work hard enough for long enough, doors can open – especially when you’re as magnetic as Fahy – but nothing is guaranteed. “You don’t get to choose when success happens or if it happens at all,” she tells us. Right…

Captured by photographer David Roemer, formidable cover star Meghann Fahy embodies the glamour and allure of New York as she poses in a 19th-century townhouse in bustling Greenwich Village. On our cover, Fahy glimmers in an embellished fringe column skirt, white cotton tank and western belt, all from Ralph Lauren’s spring/summer 2025 collection. Of using the cult-favourite Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, makeup artist Samantha Lau says, “I kept her skin super-fresh and glowy, with a little flush on the apples of the cheeks.” The lipstick was a brick mauve, lashes were defined with Armani Eyes To Kill Classico Mascara to enhance “her gorgeous eyes”, says Lau, and notes of Armani’s Sì Passione Intense filled the air. IN THE BAG The Gucci Jackie bag has lived many lives: from its debut in 1961, a Tom Ford-era interpretation in 1999, and a boho revival in 2009 by then-creative director Frida Giannini. Now the bag in “Rosso Ancora” (an oxblood hue from the Gucci archives) is destined for a new generation. Butter-soft leather and a timeless crescent-shaped silhouette remain as two elements that helped elevate the shoulder bag to icon status. Bottega Veneta has released five luxe new fragrances that pay homage to the Italian city of Venice and the label’s signature woven leather. Sold exclusively at their Sydney flagship store, each scent is housed in mouth-blown glass and sits on a beautiful marble base. Plate Up Hand-drawn and painted in watercolour, these kaleidoscopic plates will lend an artistic angle to your tablescape. About…

FOR MOST OF HISTORY, HAUTE Joaillerie has been an art form few get to experience. Commissioned, bespoke, or released in exclusive collections – and tiny quantities – for elite clientele and collectors, these pieces often vanish into private vaults and behind palace walls, sometimes never to be seen again. (Princess Grace of Monaco was such an avid collector that upon her marriage to Prince Rainier III in 1956, Van Cleef & Arpels was named the “Patented Supplier of the Principality of Monaco”.) But these pieces are not merely ultra-luxury items, explains Alexandrine Maviel-Sonet, Van Cleef & Arpels’ patrimony and exhibitions director. “They are pieces of art.” Few maisons are as committed to celebrating, sharing and preserving their heritage as Van Cleef & Arpels. In the 1970s, amid a period of cultural…
UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE
What do you look for in a bag or coat? Beauty and quality, of course, but do you also want to say something about yourself? And if so, what? If your style is low-key classic, you’ll be drawn to labels that offer luxury and style, but in a reserved way: minimal logos; nothing too obvious, flashy or fussy. That may be why Italian luxury brand Weekend Max Mara, the casual, outdoorsy sister to the Milanese powerhouse, is so sought after. It rarely says too much but invariably gets you noticed. Since 1983, its focus on beautiful fabrics, fine details, muted colours and next-level quality has made it the go-to for quiet, considered dressing. For its spring/summer 2025 collection, the brand has focused on practical, long-lasting pieces that fit into a busy lifestyle as well…
Form and Function
The central idea behind Nike’s 24.7 collection is something deeply embedded in the Australian way of life: the convergence of comfort, style and movement. “I’m so blown away by how much sport and fitness is woven into everything Australians do,” says Nike’s global general manager for women’s fitness, Jaclyn Safley. “Because of that, 24.7 was created for the consumer living in Australia.” Speaking more broadly, Safley notes that times – and trends – are changing. “Post-Covid … consumers are back in the world, living full lives,” she explains. “They’re moving and on the run, working and training, but they are less willing to sacrifice style. They are sneaking in a workout here, going to a doctor’s appointment there. Then, the next minute, they’re in five hours of meetings … Delivering on…
