La Femme Fantastique
I write this as we cruise 10,363m over the Caspian Sea en route back to Singapore, after 72 hours in the City of Lights. The Tatler Singapore team was just in Paris with Cartier to feature and photograph Deva Cassel, the enigmatic model-actress who fronts the April issue of all eight Tatler Asia editions across the region. Fresh off the fashion weeks, and the premiere of her new Netflix series, The Leopard, Cassel arrived bright and early—and solo—on set at the Paris Marriott Champs Elysees Hotel. With a croissant in one hand and a café crème in the other, the 20-year-old sat through hair, make-up and the feature story interview with incredible ease, speaking with depth and a sense of self far beyond her years—attributes she credits to her creative…

Spanish Sensations
LITTLE BARCELONA CARLITOS Quite possibly the hottest Spanish restaurant in Joo Chiat—and some say in all of Singapore—neighbourhood tapas bar Carlitos has had hungry diners lining up since its debut last November. Italian chef Antonio Miscellaneo (of La Bottega Enoteca and Casa Vostra) and Spanish chef Carlos Montobbio (of Esquina) join forces to present more than 30 tapas inspired by the latter’s memories of tapas bars back home in Spain. The casual nook channels the vibrant energy of Barcelona, complete with a traditional tapas counter dining set-up. Here, guests feast on irresistible bites such as crispy patatas bravas slathered with garlic aioli, spicy tomato sauce and smoked paprika oil; grilled and fried squid atop squid ink rice; and Fricandó, Montobbio’s favourite fall-winter dish of braised mushrooms and tender sliced beef,…
Grape Expectations
When the Institute of Masters of Wine announced its first vintage of 2025 this February 21, there was a familiar name amongst the four to earn the Master of Wine (MW) title, joining the current cohort of 425 active Masters of Wine in the world: Jackie Ang, only the second Singaporean to achieve the feat after Tan Ying Hsien in 2015. “I was chasing a dream that I once thought was so unattainable,” Ang shares, reflecting on the journey that started in 2018 upon acceptance into the programme, considered the most rigorous and demanding in the wine world, with a passing rate of around 10 per cent. During this time, he had to pass three examination stages, but these were variously deferred first due to family matters and then the…
